RTO Quality Statement and Quality Management Status


Booroongen Djugun College, a Registered Training Organisation, is committed to providing training activities; and the promotion and development of employment opportunities for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples.

In the past, educational and training experiences have produced more barriers than outcomes for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples.  Booroongen Djugun College’s overall quality goal is to ensure courses are designed to nurture the student’s potential and desire to learn through culturally relevant learning activities, phases, language, and materials and resources, as set down in the Business Plan.

College management require all employees to understand, accept and share in the responsibility for the quality of our products and services, and to strive for continual improvement.

The quality system of Booroongen Djugun College is based on the requirements of the Australian Standard AS/NZS ISO 9001 for education and training.  The College shall ensure that procedures are not less than prescribed in AS/NZS ISO 9001.

Booroongen Djugun College’s quality policy will be reviewed for continual suitability for students in order to provide and maintain a high quality of service.  The quality policy shall be controlled by control of documents.

The College has a Code of Ethics and Code of Practice which outlines a code of conduct that management and staff must adhere to.

The primary objectives of Booroongen Djugun College are to:

Maintain Registered Training Organisation status through adherence to the Standards for Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) 2015;

Maintain access to government funding opportunities;

Maintain culturally appropriate services to the Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander communities.

Conduct Council of Elders meetings a minimum of twice annually.

Achievement of quality objectives within agreed timelines are measured from the Business Plan.

Quality objectives shall include those needed to meet requirements for quality services and products.

 Executive Management at Booroongen Djugun College ensures that:

a)         Our Quality Management System has been planned so that the requirements are met, and

b)         Quality objectives are met.

Executive Management ensures that the integrity of our Quality Management System continues to be maintained at time when changes to our Quality Management System are planned and implemented.

Booroongen Djugun College was certified in February 2001 and an audit is conducted annually with a more in-depth audit completed tri-annually.

The ISO 9001 logo is an internationally recognised certification of quality management systems.
