Applying for a position

Ready to apply? You’ll need to include basic personal information, a cover letter and resume. Your cover letter should tell us a little bit about yourself and demonstrate why you’re suitable for the position

After you apply

Your application will be reviewed and if you are shortlisted you may be contacted by phone to discuss your application or invited to attend a face to face an interview. This process may take some time, but we will get back to you.

Preparing for your interview

If you have been shortlisted to attend an interview, congratulations! The below tips may help you prepare for this discussion:

  • Carefully read the position description and key selection criteria.

  • Think of questions that may be asked at the interview and prepare your answers.

  • Think of your previous experience in work situations and prepare specific examples of how you’ve handled those situations in a positive way

  • Prepare any questions for the panel – what would you like to know about the role, the conditions, and what it’s like to work at Booroongen Djugun?

  • Work out how you’ll get to the interview and how long it will take you – plan to get there 10-15 mins before your interview time.

About the interview

The interview process helps Booroongen ensure you have the qualifications, skills, ability, experience, knowledge and personal attributes to perform the role.The panel will ask you a series of questions to determine your suitability of the role and the organisation.Listen carefully to the question – think of examples based on your experience on how you can demonstrate your understanding and ability.

After the interview:

Pre-employment screening

Reference checks: whereby the panel contacts one of your references provided to ask some questions about your experience and past performance to assist in determining your suitability for the position.

Working with Children Check: This is a mandatory requirement for staff who support clients and students under the age of 18.

Pre-medicals:
Depending on the role, you will need to attend a pre-employment medical.

Unsuccessful applicants

If you have been advised that you have been unsuccessful your application will be placed on file for a period of 6 months and if another suitable opportunity arises, you may be contacted. If do not want to be considered for other roles, please advise your selection panel.

Offer

If you’re the successful candidate, you’ll be verbally offered the position. If you accept, a formal letter of offer will be sent and new employee paperwork will be sent for you to complete and return prior to your first day of work.
