Debra Urquhart – Director of Care

I am proud to be a long standing staff member at Booroongen Djugun Aged Care Facility. I commenced employment here in 1990; I was looking for a challenge and wanted to make a difference in the lives of the aged, having worked in Aged Care for many years.

I believed Booroongen Djugun represented a valuable ethic in relation to a minority in the community where services where nonexistent.

I was employed as a Registered Nurse for the first nine years, where I thoroughly enjoyed my close connection to the Culture and being part of a large family network.

I was then offered the role as Deputy Director of Care in 2007 and reluctantly accepted the offer, feeling I would lose that family connection with my residents.  In time it was clear that it was much more beneficial to take this position by the horns and improve services for the staff and residents.

I was asked to take on the challenge as Director of Care in 2008, so in collaboration with a great team we continue to improve the standard and quality of care delivered to the residents of our facility.
